Empowering Migrants Through Expanded SEE Program Access
Expanding language, literacy, numeracy and digital skills training opportunities
Starting from 1 July 2024, the Australian Government's Skills for Education and Employment (SEE) Program is opening its doors to more people than ever before. In a significant shift, eligibility is expanding to include all Australians over the age of 15 who have left school and need support with language, literacy, numeracy, and digital literacy skills. Importantly, participants no longer need to be registered job seekers to access this valuable opportunity.
This expansion is especially important for migrants, many of whom face unique challenges when entering the workforce. Language barriers, digital literacy gaps, and unfamiliarity with Australian workplace norms can make finding employment difficult. The SEE Program provides targeted assistance, giving individuals the skills and confidence to overcome these hurdles and integrate more easily into the job market.
At the Malak Foundation, we are passionate about supporting communities that face barriers to employment, especially those affected by conflict or displacement. We highly recommend the SEE Program to migrants and others who are eager to gain the skills necessary to thrive in the Australian workforce.
