Bringing Joy Through Play

Malak Foundation’s New Project for Displaced Children

When conflict strikes, children are among the most vulnerable, often uprooted from their homes, schools, and communities. For those living in internally displaced persons (IDP) camps, refugee settlements, or temporary shelters, the challenges of disrupted education, limited healthcare, and safety concerns can overshadow the joys of childhood. Yet, even in the direst circumstances, children possess an extraordinary ability to find happiness in the smallest things—whether it’s a simple game, a shared laugh, or an inventive way to play without toys.

At the Malak Foundation, we are inspired by this resilience and creativity. That’s why we’re developing a unique program to bring joy and a sense of normalcy to displaced children through an engaging activity: Flying Disc Street Golf.

The Vision: Flying Disc Street Golf for Displaced Communities

Flying disc golf is a simple yet exciting game that combines physical activity, teamwork, and fun. Our program will establish disc golf in street courses featuring nine golf baskets mapped around the community and provide flying discs so children in displaced communities can organize mini-tournaments, form playgroups, and experience moments of joy and competition.

This initiative is more than just a game—it’s a chance for children to forget their difficult circumstances, build friendships, and develop confidence. The structured play environment also offers a safe space where they can express themselves and channel their energy into something positive.

Pilot Project: Port Sudan

We aim to launch our first flying disc golf course as a pilot program in Port Sudan, a city that has become a hub for displaced families seeking refuge from the ongoing conflict in Sudan. The success of this pilot will serve as a model for expanding the program to other communities in need.

How You Can Help

To make this vision a reality, we are seeking partnerships and financial support to fund the pilot project and set the groundwork for future courses. Your contributions, whether through donations, sponsorships, or collaboration will directly impact the lives of displaced children, bringing smiles, laughter, and hope to their days.

Together, we can create spaces where children can be children again, even in adversity.

Let’s Work Together

At the Malak Foundation, we believe that every child deserves the chance to play, dream, and thrive. Join us in turning this belief into action. Support our efforts to bring flying disc golf to Port Sudan and beyond.

For donations or partnership inquiries please contact us and let’s build brighter days for displaced children one flying disc at a time.
