A Somber New Year's Greeting to the Sudanese Community in Australia
Dear Sudanese Community in Victoria & Australia wide,
As we usher in the new year, our hearts are heavy with the awareness of the challenges your community is facing. The usual jubilation and festivity that accompany the start of a new year have been muted, overshadowed by the prolonged conflict that has gripped Sudan for the past 11 months.
The recent events, such as the RSF taking control of Wad Madani and the continued push across the country, have heightened concerns within the community. Reports of atrocities against civilians, including a lack of access to basic services, food, and water, paint a grim picture of the hardships endured by many. Tragically, lives have been lost due to the scarcity of medical care and medication.
During this turmoil, we understand the heightened fear for loved ones caught in the midst of the conflict. The Sudanese conflict seems to be slipping from the international spotlight, becoming a forgotten war despite the ongoing struggles faced by its people.
Despite these challenging circumstances, we extend our heartfelt wishes for a Happy New Year to the wider Sudanese community in Victoria and Australia. Our hope is that the coming year brings a swift end to the conflict, ensuring the safety of your relatives and paving the way for prosperity and healing within your families, not just in Victoria but worldwide.
As we stand in solidarity with you during these difficult times, let us collectively aspire for a brighter future and a world where peace prevails. May the resilience of the Sudanese people be the beacon that guides us toward a better tomorrow.
Wishing you strength, hope, and a Happy New Year.
