Diversifying Education: A New Chapter with Victoria University (VU):

Beginning in February 2024, Victoria University (VU) will introduce an innovative Master of Applied Teaching (Secondary Education) program designed to enrich the teaching profession by welcoming graduates from Indigenous Australian, African-Australian, and culturally/linguistically diverse (CALD) backgrounds. This groundbreaking initiative aims to cultivate a teaching workforce that mirrors the diversity of our vibrant communities.

Unique Program Structure:

The VU program kicks off with an immersive 6-month remote learning experience, utilising the innovative VU Block Model®. This foundational period provides a robust academic foundation before transitioning into a 12-month, three-days-a-week paid placement within schools. This distinctive blend of remote learning and hands-on experience allows you to earn money while completing your studies, setting the stage for a rewarding teaching career.

Financial Support:

As a participant in the VU program, you'll receive more than just an education. The Department of Education and Training will fund your placement, ensuring financial support as you gain the skills necessary to thrive as a teacher. Additionally, participants from Indigenous Australian, African-Australian, and CALD backgrounds are eligible for a $15,000 scholarship to cover living expenses during their educational journey.

Workplace Inclusion:

The VU Master of Applied Teaching (Secondary Education) program aims not only to provide a pathway to teaching excellence but also to create a more inclusive teaching environment. By actively encouraging graduates from diverse backgrounds, the program contributes to the development of a teaching workforce that reflects the rich tapestry of Australian society.
